Holiday Parks, Youth Hostels & Budget Lodges

Holiday Parks in New Zealand are sometimes still referred to as “Camping Grounds” however they offer much more than a tent or powered camping site.   Many provide self-contained motel units, cabins and lodge rooms.  For the budget conscious traveller or those visitors with families wanting park-like space for the children, this is a very good accommodation option.   There are an abundant number of Holiday Parks scattered throughout New Zealand, not only in the main centres but also in small provisional towns and rural areas.  Please check with your Consultant.

The global hostel network, Youth Hostel Association (YHA) has around (60) properties in New Zealand.  The range of facilities vary from place to place but the standard is always high.

Many backpacking establishments or budget lodges in New Zealand now offer “hotel-type” rooms as well as the usual dormitory and share facility accommodation.

	The Lab Queenstown

	The Lab Queenstown is located in the heart of Queenstown, and means you aren’t too far away from the action in the town’s local cafés, bars and restaurants. Located on a quiet one-way street, you don’t need to walk up a hill to get to us. We have some off-street parking with free on-street parking, with a supermarket just around the corner. In the ski season months, we are able to provide mountain transfers for guests to the local snow resorts, and will also provide help in booking any of the extreme adventure activities located around Queenstown. Most share rooms sleep no more than 6. All beds are fully made up. The lodge has bedrooms and bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. Some of the rooms have their own TV, and all of them have their own phone for making or receiving calls. Free jacuzzi, free bar crawl on Tuesday night and Free BBQ on Friday nights.

	The Last Resort

	This small hostel has 18 beds in four rooms, all as dorm accommodation. There are three four bed dorms (one of which is specifically for females) and one six bed dorm. It is clean and cosy with a great atmosphere. There is a small kitchen and TV lounge with a fireplace and a good DVD/video collection. A babbling brook runs through the front yard. 	Queenstown YHA is a modern fully equipped hostel with magnificent views right on the shore of Lake Wakatipu. Double/twin, family, single, shared rooms and apartment (p.o.a.) as well as rooms with wheelchair access. Reception is open from 6.30am to 10pm, and guests have 24hour hostel access.
