Aoraki Mt Cook
|
The Mount Cook Encounter is a guided day walk up the Hooker Valley, providing breathtaking views of some of New Zealand's highest and most enthralling peaks.
Enjoy a stunning 4km (2.5 mile) trek along the well maintained track to the terminal lake of the Hooker Glacier. The journey encompasses an Alpine Memorial and passes over the turbulent Hooker River by swing bridge. Your guide will point out the unique features of this alpine world as you enjoy lunch in the shadow of New Zealand's and Oceania's highest peak, standing at 3,754 metres.
There are a number of shorter walks around the village, all of different distances and gradients. For those who want a little more let your guide introduce you to one of the bush tracks in the native forest, or even challenge yourself with a sharp climb to finish your day. This is a summer activity and normally runs in the months of October to April

Milford Track
|
Your day begins with a short journey along the shores of Lake Te Anau to the Te Anau Downs boat harbour, before cruising for an hour to the spectacular northern end of the lake.
After disembarking at the start of the track we walk 1.6km (1 mile) to historic Glade House, one of the original Milford Track Lodges, dating back to the 1890's. From here the track follows the Clinton River as it meanders through rich beech forest for a further 3.2 km (2 miles) to the Clinton Hut. Your guide will point out the birdlife and unique aspects of the valley, then take you off the track to show you a few places you might otherwise miss. For those who want a little more of a challenge there will be the option of returning via the Glade Burn track, giving you one final vista of Lake Te Anau before boarding the return launch. This is a summer activity and normally run in the months of October to April

Routeburn Track
|
Your day begins with a courtesy pick up from your Queenstown accommodation, followed by a journey along the Queenstown Glenorchy Road. Enjoy morning tea in the Glenorchy Café before entering the wilderness sanctuary of the Mount Aspiring National Park.
Relish the invigorating 6.5km (4 mile) walk up the wide and smooth track to Routeburn Flats. Enjoy a hot drink with lunch at Routeburn Flats Hut .
For those who want a little more adventure, the 300m (980ft) climb, over 3km (1.9 miles) to Routeburn Falls promises to be the highlight of your day. The walk up to the waterfall is somewhat more challenging than the first section of the track, but most of our walkers make the effort and agree the view makes it all worth it. We return along the same track. This is a summer activity and runs in the months of October till April

Travel up to the saddle on the historical Skippers Canyon in our comfortable four wheel drive vehicle. Your two hour walk starts at the saddle and winds it way down into the canyon along the original gold miners trail, once the only access to the canyon for the 10,000 gold miners who called it homw. Your guide will entertain you with interesting and historical tales as you take in the scenery, plant life and stone remains. Trip duration is 6 hours, an option Helicopter ride out can be arranged

Milford Guided Day Walk
|
Real Journeys, in association with Trips n Tramps, offers the chance to experience part of this world famous track on a one day guided walk.
Following a coach transfer to Te Anau Downs, cruise to the head of beautiful Lake Te Anau and the start of the track. On your walk you will follow the Clinton River for a short way, cross a swing bridge and then on through ancient beech forest to the Clinton Hikers Hut.
An experienced guide points out interesting human and natural history of the track along the way and there is plenty of time for you to relax, take photos and view the bird life.
Walking is easy and unhurried and there are no big hills.
