	This breathtaking trip starts in Christchurch travelling across the expansive patchwork of Canterbury Plains Farmland, winding through the spectacular gorges of the Waimakariri River, and climbing the mighty Southern Alps. While the train descends through lush native beech forest of the West Coast why not take a walk out on their open air carriage giving you even better views while breathing in the fresh alpine air. The Train will stop in the West Coast town of Greymouth just in time for lunch. Grab something onboard or jump out and investigate the friendly town's Culinary offerings. After you're short break in Greymouth you head back over the Arthurs Pass before disembarking back in Christchurch. One-way or 2-day pass are available.

	A full day's journey which travels alongside that rugged Kaikoura Coast and on through sunny Blenheim's world famous vineyards, to the seaside town of Picton. You'll get there just in time for lunch- grab something onboard from the food carriage or take a picnic to the foreshore and watch as the ferries crusie in and out. Your return journey will allow you to revisit the coast with fresh eyes. And don't forget to try the outside carriage to get some of that fresh sea air. You'll be surprised at what the opposite tide and changing sunlight will reveal. One way trips or a Kaikoura day return trips are also available.
